Lafayette, LA— The AcA has released the lineup for their sixth season. The All-Star Series lineup includes performers Bruce Hornsby, Charles Bradley, Tommy Emmanuel, Big Bad VooDoo Daddy, Solas, and Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn. AcA’s hallmark Louisiana Crossroads Series kicks off November 16 & 17 with the world’s greatest dobro player Jerry Douglas Band visiting with some Acadiana Friends. Crossroads performances to follow will include a Cajun & Creole Christmas Special, a song-by-song recreation of famed music film The Last Waltz, Sonny Landreth making a Live Record, Shreveport native songwriter stand-out Dylan LeBlanc, a fiddle summit with the O’Connor Family Band featuring Mark O’Connor with special guests Michael Doucet, Beau Thomas and others, and the ‘Queen of Blues’ Shemekia Copeland.

Along with the Jazz and PASA Main Stage Series, AcA has added a new, innovative SRO, or Standing Room Only Series, that will host popular artists in an intimate standing room setting with a seated balcony. This series will host Jason Isbell this December and Southern Soul Assembly featuring Marc Broussard, Anders Osborne, Luther Dickinson and JJ Grey in March 2017.

The ever-popular Jazz Series will feature Cuban star percussionist Pedrito Martinez, Donny McCaslin (the Band on David Bowie’s last album Black Star), super-star trio The Bad Plus, and ‘the greatest voice in jazz,’ Dianne Reeves. Lyle Lovett & Robert Earl Keen will return to the Heymann Center November 5 for AcA’s Fall Gala in the PASA Main Stage Series.

Special events include TEDx Vermillion Street, an Evening of Burlesque, a Runaway Dish Dance Fundraiser, Southern Screens Film Festival, and Cinema on the Bayou Film Festival in January. A collaborative production with Festival International 2017 will kick off Festival week with a very special concert featuring 74-year old Mali desert blues artist Boubacar Traoré performing with a who’s who of Louisiana musicians.

Highlights in Dance and Theater include Jessica Lang Dance, one of the finest modern companies in the world, on December 3, an old-time, live radio broadcast of “It’s a Wonderful Life” as a Christmas special December 14 & 15, Acting Up’s Richard the Third in October and the 5-state regional championship of the American Association of Community Theaters in April 2017.

Patrons can expect twelve or more visual exhibitions, professional development workshops, the annual Student Arts Expo, awesome family performances, and more. The 2016-2017 AcA season has something for everyone in Acadiana to enjoy. The full line-up of Season 6 is available by visiting AcadianaCenterfortheArts.org.
