Seventeen Schools of the Sacred Heart students, Duke TIP program candidates

Grand Coteau, La., (September 2016) Seventeen students from Schools of the Sacred Heart have qualified as Duke TIP candidates. The Academy candidates are Lilly Erickson, Emily Hebert, Ana Castille, Reese Bowen, Rose Hidalgo, Olivia Courville, Caroline Forest, Isabel Eldredge, Ashlyn Do, and Virginia Rader.

The Berchmans Academy candidates are Riley Guidry, Jonathan Carney, John Thomas Foard, Noah Breaux, Michael Paddock, Collin Coon and Pierre Charbonnet. As Duke TIP qualified candidates, these students now have the opportunity to take the ACT or the SAT (national tests used primarily for college admissions). Their scores on the ACT or SAT will be used to determine their eligibility to be named a Duke TIP scholar.

In order to qualify, students must have scored a 95 percentile or above on a recent standardized test in one of the specified test or subtests.  The objectives of this program are to identify the academically talented students at an early age and to provide them with information about their ability and the educational opportunities that may prove beneficial to them.

“The Duke University Talent Identification Program is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving academically gifted and talented youth.  As a world leader in gifted and talented education, Duke TIP works with students, their families, and educators to identify, recognize, challenge, engage, and help students reach their highest potential.”
