Cajun Country

Description: The Cajun Country Half-Marathon is Acadiana’s oldest half-marathon and we now feature a 10k and 5k trail run. The event is conveniently set in the early winter and will provide a perfect warm-up race for the winter marathons in early 2015. Walkers are encouraged to participate. This event is held at Acadiana Park and Nature Station which is home to some of TRAIL’s proud projects. 1205 E Alexander St, Lafayette, LA 70501 HALF MARATHON (100% pavement): The course is USATF certified and is now a single loop and 100% on pavement. We will post the map in the near future. There are a few small climbs that are less than 25′. This is great race for the beginner as well as the seasoned endurance athlete. Walkers are welcomed to participate. Awards: 1st, 2nd & 3rd overall, 1st Masters, 1st Grand Masters, 1st, 2nd & 3rd in each age group. This year we are introducing the Baby Stroller division with prizes for 1st and 2nd male and female (actual baby can be replaced with a 20 pound bag of Supreme Rice) 10k & 5k TRAIL RUN: Over the past two years we added a 10k and 5k trail run to the Cajun Country. The trail run will be on the recently acquired +100 acres of wooded property North of the Acadiana Park Nature Station and along the Vermilion River, slight rolling hills in and out of the woods.
