Make your plans to come to The Original “Bean Field”, in Plaisance, birthplace of the Annual Original SWLA Zydeco Music Festival where it all began. Celebrating our 33rd, the event showcases the best in zydeco music, featuring seven leading musical artists. This year, the festival pays tribute to the late John Delafose, and features Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie; Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band; Lil Nate and Zydeco Big Timers; Leon Chaves and many others. The event takes place on Labor Day weekend, Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Zydeco Park in Plaisance, 457 Zydeco Road off Highway 167 North, Plaisance. If it rains, the show goes on at the Yambilee Building, 1939 W. Landry, Opelousas. We start the day at noon and got to midnight—or until we’re done! Come enjoy the Black Pot Cook Off, a Mini Ride on Zydeco Trail, arts and crafts and great food—and bring the whole family! The Zydeco Festival is also a wonderful place to have a family reunion. If you want to start your day early—come to the Zydeco Breakfast at the Courthouse Square featuring Wayne and Same Ol’ 2-Step from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Then you’ll be warmed up for the SWLA Zydeco Music Festival!
