Unified Development Code Workshops

Lafayette Consolidated Government

In a continuing effort to provide transparency and information on the Unified Development Code (UDC), adopted this spring, Lafayette Consolidated Government will host another series of workshops for the development community and general public as the staff and community prepare for the effective date of the UDC. The workshops aim to inform developers and citizens on changes in the code to offer support in compliance and further explain updates in the zoning districts. The UDC compiled and combined the various, sometimes conflicting, rules from the previous planning and zoning codes regarding development and put them into one coordinated document. In addition, the UDC contains new zoning districts that will allow developers the option to pursue denser, multi-use development that reflects the community values identified in the adopted comprehensive plan, PlanLafayette. Some previous workshops have been geared towards specific professions within the real estate development community, and at least one August workshop will target architects; however, all of the workshops are open to the public. Additional workshops will be planned through the effective date of the code on December 7 and more beyond if needed.
