The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" will be presented at Cité des Arts June 2 through 5. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening performances will be at 7:30 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $15 plus tax and can be purchased at citedesarts.org or reserved by calling (337) 291-1122. This hilarious, heartwarming musical comedy centers on six quirky, ambitious adolescents competing in their all-important county spelling bee. It was conceived by Rebecca Feldman with music and lyrics by William Finn, a book by Rachel Sheinkin and additional material by Jay Reiss. The 2005 Broadway production, directed by James Lapine, won two Tony Awards, including Best Book of a Musical. This production is directed by Travis Guillory and is co-produced by The Riveters Theatre Company. The show stars Allison Brandon, Travis Guillory, Abby Boudreaux, Martin Smith, Lanie Marcantel, Seth Derouen, and Madelyn Kelly Guillory. Also featured is Nick Dooley, and Sarah Gauthier Roy. "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" is for mature audiences due to language and content.
