Creole Culture Day

Celebrate Creole Culture in Acadiana

The community is invited to join us as we celebrate and explore the history and evolution of the Creole community.

This event is the first of three Culture days held annually at our historic village. Vermilionville hosts Creole, Acadian and Native American Culture Days. Bring the family and enjoy an afternoon of cultural exchange!


10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Throughout the Village:

Creole Communities, Spoken word with Alex ‘Poetic Soul’ Johnson, Creole language discussions, Healer’s Garden tours, The Art and Culture of Bryant Benoit, A historic meet-and-greet with Pierre Landry (America’s first African-American mayor), Tours of the Broussard home, Open hearth cooking, Genealogy discussions, The inventions of African-Americans, The McComb-Veazey Creole Heritage area, The Whitney Plantation Museum, Voter registration and more.
