Bayou Vermilion, Backyard to the Bayou Symposium
Understanding Your Role in the Preservation of Our River
The Bayou Vermilion Preservation Association is hosting a symposium on September 8-10 for the public, Bayou Vermilion, Backyard to the Bayou – Understanding Your Role in the Preservation of Our River. The event includes a sunset cruise on Thursday, a day of speakers from 8:30 – 3:00 at Vermilionville on Friday and a family fun BVD sponsored paddle to Bayou Tortue on Saturday. Ronald Boustany, Natural Resources Specialist, U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Resources Conservation Service serves as Symposium Chair. Some of the highlighted speakers are John Lopez, Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation; Brad Klamer, New Orleans Sewage and Water Board; Michael Cullen, Landscape Architect; Peter Mayeaux, owner All Seasons Nursery; Rusty Ruckstuhl, Landscape Architect; Jeff Foshee and Teddy Beaullieu, Southern Lifestyle Development; Pamela Grainger, Landscape Engineer. A 4 person panel will address how we can best inform and involve the community in preserving the bayou. Registration for the speaker event is $27 which includes a light breakfast and sack lunch. Student fee with ID is $5. The cost of the sunset cruise is $27 for all participants.
