Four fourth graders from Woodvale Elementary School qualified to compete in the State Social Studies Fair held in Lake Charles earlier this year.

“I am so proud of our four state winners,” said Sonia Schnaars, Woodvale’s Social Studies Fair Coordinator. “These girls, and all of our students, really stepped up this year and we couldn’t be more proud of them...”

The students first competed in a school-wide competition before advancing to the district social studies fair. After winning at both school and district, the road was paved for these students to advance to the State Finals in Lake Charles.

The following fourth graders competed and placed in their individual categories:

In the History category, Phoebe Jennings placed 3rd with her project "Defenders of the Florissant."

In the Sociology category, Zoe Leblanc placed 1st with her nonfiction work, "China's One Child Policy."

In the Sociology group project, Avery Liles and Sophie Cheung placed 1st with "Girls on the Run.”

Face Magazine would like to congratulations these young ladies on a job well done!
