Community coming to terms with theater shooting

Jul 24, 2015 03:35PM ● By Flint Zerangue, Sr.
Recently, our beloved city (Lafayette, LA) was voted the “Happiest City in the US.” Unfortunately, that happiness was abruptly halted yesterday when a crazed drifter entered a local theater, sat down to watch a movie then unexpectedly pulled out a gun and began shooting randomly into the crowd, killing two beautiful people and wounding nine others. But in the wake of tragedy comes incredible stories of heroism and unbelievable acts of selflessness. The stories are still emerging, but we should all be PROUD of our first responders who were on the scene within minutes and the wonderful citizens who were there as events unfolded helping to comfort and protect others until they were save. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families involved in this horrific event. Through support and prayers, our community will begin to heal. Knowing the spirit of the people here in Acadiana, today’s fresh start may be our finest hour.
