Westminster Christian Academy Celebrates 40 Years

Mar 06, 2019 12:01PM ● By Press Release

When Mark Kimble was three years old, his mother was told he would never speak. A mother’s determination mixed with the perseverance of a child placed in a loving and challenging environment led this young man to a moment of significance as the 2015 Valedictorian. As Mark described his journey, he gave example after example of ways he slowly overcame the impossible, “My teachers were patient and encouraging as I strived to improve in this area of my life.” More than just a poignant example, Mark’s words were an investment in his classmates as they were embarking on the next step of their own journey, “Man thought I would never speak…I share this with you as a testimony to what God can do in our lives.” Currently, Mark is thriving at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as a computer science major hoping to become a computer software engineer in research and development. Each obstacle he has overcome has equipped him for this moment. Mark is just one example of the plentiful harvest of world-changers equipped at Westminster Christian Academy.

Founded in 1978, Westminster Christian Academy is a mature and successful institution that is taking pause to celebrate 40 years of equipping students for lives of significance. As an independent, non-denominational, K-12 Christian school with two campuses in Acadiana, they strive to provide a Christ-centered, Bible-driven education for their students and their families.

The archives of Westminster Christian Academy are filled with profound stories like Mark’s. The lasting impact in the lives of children includes loving and skilled teachers, staff, and administrators daily pouring out themselves day in and day out, year after year for 40 years. Empty fields in Lafayette and Opelousas have been transformed into bustling campuses. As the story continues into the 2019-2020 school year, families from 8 parishes that attend over 150 churches will send their children to one of the two K3-12th grade campuses. At Westminster it’s not enough, however, to merely prepare students for college.

Here’s to 40 more years! Their aim is to assist parents in educating their children by imparting God's truth to transform society in present and future generations. Here’s to 40 more years!
