Krewe of Xanadu Zeus Muse Club Luncheon 2022

(Lafayette, LA) This year the Krewe of Xanadu will be Living the Circus Life, Vivre la vie de Cirque on Friday, February 25th, so it was time to honor our present court and welcome them into the Zeus Muse Club. The 9 Muses selected each year for the court represent the 9 daughters of Zeus, the king of the gods, and Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory. The captain is always chosen to represent Mnemosyne and this year our captain is Lori Landry. In Greek mythology, the 9 Muses were the goddesses of the arts and sciences. They had beautiful voices, the ability to banish all grief and sorrow, and were a source of inspiration for the gods. The 9 Muses selected this year to assist Queen Xanadu XXXI, Natalie Brasseaux, will represent their chosen goddess well.

Each year the outgoing court hosts a party for the new Muses and anyone who’s ever been a Muse in the past attends as well. An honored Zeus Muse tradition is passing on a hat box to each of the 9 Muses and all those who were a Muse of that name take a picture together. Each hat box contains a memento saved throughout the years from each Muse of that same name. I would describe my year as Calliope, the goddess of Epic Poetry, as a year I will never forget. I have made lifelong friends and wonderful memories that I will cherish forever and every Muse in that room feels the same about the year she spent with her court.
