Cochon de Lait at Vermilionville

The community is invited to participate in a Cochon de Lait at Vermilionville. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the traditions and history surrounding a traditional Cochon de Lait in a festive atmosphere. If you are only interested in attending this event, your cost will be $5.00, which includes tastings.

However, if you are only interested in touring our historic village then the regular admission fee applies. There is no cost for those ages 6 and under.

Artisan Jay Steiner will serve as the emcee for the day amidst a plethora of activities. There will be cooking demonstrations by Edmond Alexander (cracklings), John Norbert (pork jambalaya), and Johnson Boutonniere (boudin). In addition, guests can experience soap making demonstrations and beer tastings as well.

Another educational component will consist of a panel discussion, Forgotten Foods from the Cow, with Bacque Farms. Be sure to bring the family to this exciting event and enjoy both traditional and new age methods of the Cochon de Lait. And, what is a celebration at Vermilionville without great food, great beverages, and great, live music?

We've planned this event with you in mind. And, don't forget to bring your dancing shoes along with your dancing partner! Award-winning legend, Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Roadrunners, will perform in the Performance Center from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
